The Centre for Probe Development and Commercialization (CPDC) is a global leader in the discovery, development and distribution of next generation radiopharmaceuticals.  Our products are used daily for the detection and treatment of human diseases such as cancer.

Due to the growing demand for our products, we have an immediate need for a Senior Process Chemist to join our Hamilton team.

Reporting to the Manager of Process Chemistry and Clinical Supply, the Senior Process Chemist will work in a fast-paced team setting using state-of-the art techniques and equipment to develop, manufacture, test and package radiopharmaceutical products. 

Responsibilities and expectations include but are not limited to:

  • Serve as representative on a project team in the capacity of process chemist expert and project leader
  • Provide project data and progress status updates to management and customers
  • Design  and conduct experiments, critically evaluate data, draw appropriate conclusions and develop follow-up plans of action
  • Work with technical / laboratory  staff on the development of synthesis, purification, formulation and aseptic filling processes, including process transfer, scale-up, validation and launch activities
  • Prepare and review written procedures, batch records, experimental protocols and reports, specifications, qualification protocols.
  • Conduct work according to best practices and, where appropriate, regulatory guidance, international pharmacopeias, ICH, GMPs, established business processes and protocols, and applicable standard operating procedures
  • Complete all other related duties that support the core activities and mission of the Centre
  • Ability to handle more than one project at a time
  • Communicate effectively across all CPDC departments
  • Troubleshoot problems
  • Work under minimal supervision
  • Mentor and direct junior process chemists
  • Ability to work day and/or evening shifts

Required Education/Experience/Knowledge:

  • BSc/MSc in a science or engineering field with 10 years of industrial experience in pharmaceutical industry (5 years with PhD), including 2 years of experience in development, formulation, or tech transfer of manufacturing processes;
  • Strong chemistry, process chemistry or aseptic manufacturing experience in a pharmaceutical setting is considered an asset;
  • Outstanding planning, communication, and collaboration skills;
  • Functional knowledge of validation principles, standard concepts, practices, procedures and requirements of GMPs and applicable Health Canada, FDA, EMA, ICH and PDA guidelines;
  • Demonstrated ability to see beyond own function to understand business issues and implement best practices;
  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills;
